Long, golden days, warm water and that unmistakable Noosa holiday feeling. Summers here are what postcards are made of. Whether you’re planning a family holiday, a getaway with friends or a slow week for two, seven days is the sweet spot for seeing the best of Noosa without rushing a thing.
We’ve mapped out the perfect week, from the National Park to the Everglades, so all you need to do is pack your swimmers.
Summer in Noosa runs from December through February, with average temperatures sitting between 21-29°C. The ocean is warm and inviting, the days are long, and afternoon storms occasionally roll through to cool things down (we are in the Subtropics after all). Plan your active adventures for the morning, then save the afternoons for a swim, a long lunch or a well-earned nap.
Check in, unpack and head straight for the sand. Noosa Main Beach is patrolled, sheltered and perfect for an easy first swim. Spend the afternoon wandering Hastings Street’sboutiques and cafes, then stroll to Noosa Spit to watch the sun set over the river mouth before dinner.
Our tip: During peak season, make sure you book a few dinners ahead at popular spots like Bang Bang, Sails, Cibaria Noosa and Locale Noosa, so you don’t miss out on some of Hastings Street’s hottest restaurants while you’re here.
Set off early to beat the heat and walk the famous coastal track from the park entrance, known to locals as “Nationals”, all the way to Hells Gates. Keep an eye out for turtles, stop at Dolphin Point to spot the local pod, and take in the stunning outlooks and birdlife along the way.
The park is lined with beaches and coves that you’ll discover on your walk. We suggest finishing the walk first, then refuelling with a big breakfast and a well-deserved post-walk coffee. Once you’re ready for a mid morning refresh, pack a beach bag and head back into the park to beach hop between the bays. Tea Tree Bay is a spot worth adding to your must-swim list. If the swell is right and you’re an advanced surfer, be sure to add Granite Bay to your list. Learners should stick to Little Cove and First Point.
Our tip: After a day in the park, enjoy a relaxing drink at Bistro C, a much-loved beachfront restaurant overlooking Noosa Main Beach and the National Park. Want something more casual? Head to the Noosa Surf Club or Sunshine Beach Surf Club for a laid-back, barefoot beachfront vibe.
The Noosa River is at its best in summer. Start your morning with a stroll along Gympie Terrace and take your pick of the many cafes lining this riverfront strip for coffee and breakfast.
Up for adventure? Hire a stand-up paddleboard or kayak from Noosa Watersports in Noosaville and spend the morning exploring the river at your own pace.
Travelling with the family? Make sure you hire your very own BBQ boat from Terrace Marina. Pack a picnic and spend the day hopping between sandbanks, floating in the crystal-clear water at the river mouth and cooking up a barbecue on board.
Our tip: End the day with a cruise on the iconic Noosa Ferry before enjoying fresh fish and chips at the Noosa Boathouse. Want something a little more romantic? Check out 250 Grammi or Lanai Noosa. You’ll be spoilt for choice.
Noosa is fast becoming known for wellness, with a wide range of spa options to pamper yourself between the beach and the bars.
Transport yourself to Bali at Ikatan Spa, an award-winning crowd favourite in the Noosa Hinterland. For something a little closer to town, try Noosa Springs or Endota Spa.
Travellers also love a visit to Noosa’s own TH7 in Noosa Junction, known for its recovery-focused approach to wellness.
Wellness also means eating well, so make sure you drop into Belmondos and Organika, two much-loved local markets showcasing fresh produce and food for the body, mind and soul.
Swap the coast for the Noosa Hinterland. Browse the Eumundi Markets (open Wednesdays and Saturdays) for local makers, produce and street food, then wander through the charming country towns nearby. Cooroy is home to the epic Hinterland Adventure Playground and Noosa’s very own Botanic Gardens, perfect for entertaining the kids. Pomona is famed for its Mt Cooroora hike, and in Kin Kin, be sure to drop by the Kin Kin Hotel.
The hinterland is a few degrees cooler than the coast, making it the perfect escape on a hot summer’s day, or when the weather isn’t quite right for the beach.
Did you know Noosa was named the world’s 10th World Surfing Reserve? While you’re here, a surf lesson with Merrick’s Noosa Learn to Surf on Noosa Main Beach is a must. The gentle point breaks are ideal for first-timers.
If you’re an advanced surfer, make your way to Sunshine Beach for faster-paced waves, with board hire available at Golden Breed.
Not keen on surfing? Explore the eastern beaches with lunch in Sunshine Beach Village, or continue south to Peregian Beach for a laid-back afternoon on the sand or browsing the boutiques.
On your final day, take things slowly. If it’s a Sunday, start at the Noosa Farmers Market for fresh local produce and coffee. Enjoy one last swim, a long lunch by the water, and a final stroll on the Noosa River before saying see you next time.
Beyond the events, spring is simply a beautiful time to slow down and soak up everything Noosa has to offer. Here’s some inspiration for your spring visit:
